Maurizio Polese‘s photographic works are incredibly rich images with strong luscious contrasts and highly focused details.
The particular images shown seem to evoke a deep sense of loneliness and isolation, which the black and white photographs work well to add to this overall mood. The dark, cloud cover evokes a sort of dreamlike, almost primordial feel to it. Each image references rural farm communities, but due to the way they are photographed and the subjects of the images being isolated, the photographs could represent a battle between man vs. nature. The bales of hay are left standing still in the field they were harvested in which humanity has “won”, while the image below shows a beaten-up old fence which has been overgrown and taken over by nature.

Philipp Klinger has mastered the linear form. His works evoke a sense of order and strong centered concepts. The repetition of the lines makes the works seem almost vibrant as if they are moving even though they are in black and white. They give off a mechanical, hard, rigid feel supported by strong use of vertical and horizontal lines throughout.
