Awesome Airships, Devious Clockwork Henchmen: 13 Fantastic Steampunk Works

by Alan on June 9, 2010

Steampunk defined in two seconds flat is Victorian Science Fiction.

Steampunk originates from science fiction and deals with elements of Victorian era 19th century life mixed with fantasy and incredible technological marvels.  The genre tends to deal with “the path not taken” such as the widespread use of zeppelins, dirgibles and other airships, mechanized analog computers and more.

Here are some of my favorite artists in the Steampunk Genre for your inspiration:

For a second I thought you were blogging about cyberpunk, the sci-fi genre involving a futuristic advanced technology world within in a lowly culture, like A Scanner Darkly. I’m really curious what inspired the other: cyberpunk or steampunk. I love the artwork. What intricate detail and imagination. I’d put up “Airships” maybe “The Voyager” and “Waiting for the Last Launch” as wall art. Cool posting!
