A few weeks ago I went to visit my mom in Tucson and together we went to a dinner/wine tasting at the Forty-Niners Golf Club. It was so much fun, and of course, tasted amazing.

Last night Alan and I were sitting on the sofa discussing something….that somehow reminded me of a painting I had learned about in Art History. I tried excitedly to tell Alan all about it, but my memory failed me….The image was clear in mind and I tried to describe the painting, but failed miserably, as the painting was abstract, nor could I remember the name of the painting or the name of the painter. This led to long google search, but without knowing what to search for, it was a futile attempt. This led to a conversation where we both lamented how our brains had forgotten so much. In an attempt to make our brains remember and to learn more about art I would like to try to make a weekly post about some art piece. (more…)

This fantastic series is a project from the mind of Alex Varanese, a graphic designer based in San Francisco, California. His designs evoke a very retro feel and are very precise in bestowing a sort of film noir in each of the images with film grain. You can view more of his work at his website.

Steampunk defined in two seconds flat is Victorian Science Fiction.
Steampunk originates from science fiction and deals with elements of Victorian era 19th century life mixed with fantasy and incredible technological marvels. The genre tends to deal with “the path not taken” such as the widespread use of zeppelins, dirgibles and other airships, mechanized analog computers and more.

For the last week or so I have been so restless, literally unable to sit still. I feel like I need to go out and do something. I think its because right now so many things are on the verge of happening, that this month is almost an extended waiting period. Next month I am going on a trip, moving apartments, then after that school starts back up, applying to law school begins and I graduate in December. In just a few short months, I will have some major life choices and moments. I feel excitement and a sudden desire to seek out new events, places, food, EVERYTHING. I’m temporarily bored of this town, the heat, my clothes, my music, EVERYTHING. Any one have any good ideas for distracting my mind? (more…)
